On Tuesday, June 18th, Manhattan’s elite braved stormy weather to celebrate the first anniversary of GITANO Garden of Love in SoHo.
The tropical garden oasis was dimly lit; creating a sultry ambiance while guests sipped Jungle Fever mezcal cocktails and nibbled on passed light bites by Chef Mike Bagale.
Guests were the first to try Bagale’s Wild Shrimp Ceviche with huitlacoche and leche de tigre followed by Short Rib Pibil Tacos, served on homemade tortillas with banana habanero sauce.
The gorgeous outdoor restaurant and bar spans 24,000 square feet and is decked out with hundreds of tropical plants, transporting you to another world.
Gitano Owner James Gardner hosted special guests including Chef Mads Reflund, Carlos Greer Alex & Key Lundqvist, Paul Haggis, Dorinda Medley, Jason Anthony, Laurie Cole, Ian Mellencamp, Jazmin Grace Grimaldi, Ashley Haas, Alexandra Mack, Dina Khoury, Bianca Vesco, Jason Anthony, Questlove, Paige Jimenez, Kelly Dowdle, Satu Greenberg, Celeste Greenberg and William McLaron.
Prior to the event, Michelin Star Chef Mike Bagale (Alinea) hosted an intimate seated dinner to launch the summer’s chef dream team. Gitano will be home to five of the world’s most impressive international chefs, and have created a menu inspired by their shared love of Mexico and the Yucatán to be served at Garden of Love this summer.
