When it comes to vehicles for play you generally have to choose between land, sea, and air. A select few let you have two out of three. Boats by Sealegs are meant for time spent out on the water but the boats also have all all-terrain wheels to carry you as safely outside the water as in it. Founded in 2004, the New Zealand-based company has seen more adoption of their craft in the US market over the last few years.
While they aren’t designed for use on public roads, the Sealegs craft are US Coast Guard compliant and are powered on land by a four-stroke V-twin cylinder air-cooled 24HP Honda in-board engine. You can cruise around the lake and then pop out of the water and drive back toward the house. Hydraulic cylinders raise and lower the wheels making the whole process a lot more seamless than hauling your boat out onto a trailer.
While the boats do have commercial applications including use as flood rescue vehicles, the 7.7 meter Sealegs cabin craft is a day cruiser designed for fun. Sealegs boats start at $159,000.
