125 years ago William Grant vowed to create “the best dram in the valley”. And thus began the making of Glenfiddich whiskey.
Glenfiddich has various promotions on tap to celebrate the 125th anniversary. One is release of the Cask of Dreams single malt, a limited edition available only in the United States.
Glenfiddich took special care to make the Cask of Dreams truly special.
First, in 2011, they brought 11 uncharred white oak barrels to the US. Glenfiddich ambassadors traveled around the country with the barrels, inviting people to write out their hopes and dreams on the casks.
The barrels were then shipped back to Scotland, where they filled will specially-selected single-malt whiskies, ranging from 14-16 years. The whiskey was finished in the dream covered barrels – which yielded 3.500 bottles.
A unique aspect of this single malt is that it is finished in uncharred barrels. For the Cask of Dreams vintage, this has given it a hint of sherry (although no sherry barrels were used), vanilla and fruits.
Glenfiddich Cask of Dreams should be a single malt treat for Scotch aficionados in the United States.
