London is experiencing a floral bloom as the iconic windows of Selfridges is home to a garden full of beautiful hand sculpted flowers all featuring a unique configuration of the Apple Watch. All the 24 windows at the renowned Oxford Street have been given a floral makeover inspired by the Apple Watch experience. The high end department store in the United Kingdom brings the Apple Watch to life with the blossoming floral installation. Apple’s yellow poppies clearly harmonize with Selfridges’ signature yellow. It is also reported that adopting the smartwatch’s UI design, the installation is made from flowers ranging from 200mm to 1.8m in height, all featuring a unique configuration of the Apple Watch – including Apple Watch Sport, Apple Watch and Apple Watch Edition. The latest installment continues to mark the opening of Apple’s store-within-a-store concept at Selfridges in April. It is designed to draws inspiration from the Apple Watch experience by transforming its faces into creative installations. The Apple flowers garden put up in the windows include 24 large, 50 medium and 5,525 small flowers along with 240 slightly larger ‘small-plus’ flowers. While some were crafted from cast resin and other smaller components are 3D printed, each bloom was exclusively created via different methods. The range of blooming flowers were photographed in stop-motion, with some flowers requiring more than 24,000 shots over 285 hours. A lot of work has been put behind this floral installation for the windows as all eight variations of flowers have been scaled and hand-painted by artists, the sculpting process as equally painstaking and meticulous as the original photography.‘We are thrilled that the flowers of the Apple Watch face have inspired such a beautiful design and to see it come to life in this amazing installation, reflected in all 24 of Selfridges’ historic windows,’ states Paul Deneve, Apple’s vice president of special projects.Selfridges Via Wallpaper
