Christian Louboutin has rightly quoted that ‘A shoe has so much more to offer than just to walk.’ And the world’s most famous luxury department store is endorsing it by announcing Harrods Shoe Heaven.

Whether you have a fetish for shoes or are simply digging out excuses to add more to your shoe closet, head to the soon-to-open footwear paradise at Brompton Rd, London. Harrods is set to unveil its largest project to date on 1st August.

Spanning over 42,000-sq.-ft on the fifth level of the store, the Shoe Heaven will lure shoppers by bringing the world’s best footwear brands and designers under one roof. The biggest shoe department will boast of 17 boutiques including the likes of Manolo Blahnik, Christian Louboutin, Chanel, Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Prada and Valentino. Another fifty brands including Nicholas Kirkwood, Charlotte Olympia, Sophia Webster and Rupert Sanderson will be displayed in curated rotundas distributed around the hall. All the boutiques will be marked with glazed fabric screens at their entryways and brass name plaques.

To shoppers’ delight, many top brands have designed exclusive silver-hued styles and limited editions to celebrate the opening.

Designed by London based design and architecture firm, David Collins Studio, the floor is very well lit with natural light passing through windows, as well as glass-ceilinged rotundas in the common areas. Boasting of original art deco and Georgian architecture and features, the footwear paradise’s decor also features large circular floors made from three types of marble.

With an idea to make shoppers feel “cocooned, special and uplifted” by the space, the design firm has commissioned bespoke furniture from Germany which is clad in embossed leathers, mohair, devoré fabrics, etched glass and brass trim. Upping the experience, the space is scattered with chairs and loveseats that have been designed so that customers can nestle their handbags behind their backs while they are trying on shoes.

The shoe department is being opened with Harrods’ footwear partner Kurt Geiger. Neil Clifford, CEO of Geiger, expects Harrods Shoe Heaven to be the No. 1 destination for shoes in the world.
