Updated Aug. 15, 2012, via NPR: “Now comes news that Obama’s homebrew is packed aboard his campaign bus. At the end of his coffeehouse chat, the president had a bottle brought in for his new beer buddy. Watching this, the press corps who travel with the president were thunderstruck.”
Talk about an ultra-luxury and ultra-rare beer! President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama served the special home-made microbrew White House Honey Ale during their annual Super Bowl party. The First Lady’s office confirms that the White House chefs made one batch of beer using about a pound of honey from the First Lady’s honey hive, from the South Lawn of the White House. The chefs used the traditional methods to brew the ale, and the First Lady’s office confirms that the Obamas paid for the equipment.
Other beers served at the White House Super Bowl party included Hinterland Pale Ale & Amber Ale from Wisconsin and Yuengling Lager and Light from Pennsylvania.
