Tatoosh Distillery & Spirits was founded in 2009 in Seattle, Washington, by Joe Eliasen and Troy Turner. The company now produces small batch whiskey and bourbon based on a 100 year old recipe. The result is two tasty products: Tatoosh Bourbon and Tatoosh Whiskey.
The bourbon has a slightly sweet oaky taste. You definitely can taste the char. It was just fine on the rocks or neat.
The whiskey has a nice malty flavor (but not overwhelmingly). It’s fairly light – and like the bourbon – very easy to drink.
Tatoosh Whiskey was recently awarded a Gold medal at The Spirits International Prestige (SIP) Awards competition in Dana Point, California, while Tatoosh Bourbon received the Platinum Medal for Straight Bourbon Whiskey.
A bottle of Tattosh can be had for around $50, but you’ll have to search a little to find the brand since it’s only available in Washington, New York, Montana, Georgia, Connecticut, New Jersey, Michigan, Nevada and Canada.
