If your perfect Sunday includes freshly shucked oysters, crisp cocktails, and calming water views, clear your calendar for May 2, 2027, when Saybrook Point Resort & Marina in Old Saybrook, Connecticut, will celebrate its 4th annual Oysters at the Point.
A Maritime Tour de Taste
This year’s Oysters on the Point event took place on May 3rd, 2026 from 12–3 PM right on the marina, with gorgeous New England views and soft ocean breezes. The culinary team curated a tour of the Atlantic’s finest bivalves sourced from four distinct New England areas: Connecticut, Rhode Island, Long Island, and Block Island.
Exploring terroir—or rather merroir—is everything. You will get to taste the mineral tang of Long Island side by side with the sweet, clean finish of a Block Island offering. The Connecticut oysters bring a briny brightness, while Rhode Island’s contribution offers a buttery soft taste that lingers on the palate. It is a rare opportunity to compare the nuances of the Northeast’s best growing waters in a single afternoon.
To elevate the experience, the resort’s chefs also hosted an intimate, hands-on shucking session, revealing the best techniques and explaining exactly what gives this stretch of coast its signature flavor profile. The event partners with wine and spirit brands like Hampton Water and local artisans, while entertainment was provided by a lively cover band perched on the terrace, letting the live music carry across the water.
Besides all you can eat oysters, guests also had options of sampling New England Clam Chowder, cheese & charcuterie plates, black bean & avocado Sliders from Fresh Salt, Oysters Rockefeller & Yucatan Style Shrimp Cerviche, Key Lime Pie and Chocolate Madelines.
