We’ve long loved Vidal Sassoon for their signature cuts, colors and even their products. The “Sassoon Style” is an internationally recognized look that combines precision cutting with crisp, natural movement that instantly looks chic on any face shape and age.
Which explains our excitement when we heard that Sassoon was expanding, offering blow dry and styling services as part of their new “Blow & Style” bar in many salons. It combines everything we love about a good blow dry — a reasonable price, pampering experience and superior styling services designed to either subtly enhance or totally transform the look of the hair.
Like may “blow dry bars,” Sassoon lets clients choose from an extensive blow dry menu that ranges from the straight and sleek of the “Signature Sassoon,” the VIP gloss of the “Voluminous” and the relaxed and easy elegance of the “Disheveled.”
The options look way more “catwalk” than many blow dry menus, offering a selection of versatile braids, waves and ponies for mid length and longer hair. The prices are reasonable too — $45 and up, with added charges only if your appointment takes longer than the allotted hour’s time, or if you have particularly complex hair.
We sampled the services at Tysons Galleria, where Creative Director Allison Lyle gave us a bouncy “Glam Wave” in prep for a girl’s weekend. We loved the care taken at every step of the process – a perfect shampoo / massage / conditioning, plus a pre-blowout consult that discussed not only how we wanted to wear our hair, but how we typically styled and cared for our tresses.
We even got a bit of advice on color for an upcoming appointment. The result? We left the salon feeling not only beautiful, but pampered in a way that many blow dry bars haven’t been able to achieve. As an added benefit, the styling menu is the perfect way to “try before you buy” with a new stylist.
We’d definitely enjoy another Blow & Style in the near future.
