The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) has announced that the superstar singer Rihanna would be the recipient of its Fashion Icon Award at the 2014 CFDA Fashion Awards ceremony. Rihanna is being honored “For her contributions to the fashion industry as well as her philanthropic partnership with the M.A.C. AIDS Fund’s Viva Glam campaign.”
Past Fashion Icon Award have included Kate Moss, Nicole Kidman, Lady Gaga, Iman and Johnny Depp.
The ceremony will be held on June 2 in Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center. Cult film director John Waters will be the host.
