Concepts in yachting are a dime a dozen. But this is pretty amazing. Palmer Johnson teaming with Rolls-Royce for a super yacht.
Palmer Johnson has teamed up with Rolls-Royce on its newest concept superyacht, the 82-metre Ice Class. The vessel aims to combine the ability to cruise remote destinations in a variety of demanding conditions, and ensure peak performance, endurance, reliability, lower costs and maintenance efficiency, with the luxury and elegance to be expected in a superyacht of this size. Quite a tall order. The project was born out of Palmer’s acquisition of Norwegian shipyard Flekkefjord Slipp & Maskinfabrikk’s, best known for research and exploration vessels. For the Ice Class 82, the shipbuilder has optimised the Rolls-Royce UT hull for a Diesel-Electric Azipull Propulsion system. – From James List
