The deep ocean is one of the few relatively unexplored areas left on our planet, but you don’t have to be a well-funded scientist in order to learn its secrets. In 2014 the Dutch company U-Boat Worx released the C-Explorer 3, and a year later they further improved their submarine designs to produce the luxurious Super Yacht Sub 3. The small submersible measures 10-foot × 8-foot and seats three individuals.
One of the mini sub’s most interest features is its ability to be upgraded in order to achieve greater depths. The default model can reach depths of 300 feet, but with appropriate upgrades it can descend to depths of nearly 1000 feet. Even at these dizzying depths the interior of the sub remains comfortable with its leather seats, temperature controlled environment, and a Bluetooth sound system. You could, conceivably, listen to The Beatles “Octopus’s Garden” on repeat while admiring some real octopuses.
The Super Yacht Sub 3 is designed for ease of use and is steered with a specially designed joystick that maintains depth and heading automatically. The sub is also equipped with an important safety measure: a dead man’s switch that needs to be activated every 10 minutes in order to stop the sub from going into auto-pilot and surfacing.
