The recently sold Maltese Falcon is in the news again – this time as a champion – winning the Perini Navi Cup.
The now-infamous 289ft hybrid beast Maltese Falcon just never seems to drop off the radar. Having turned up on JamesList in May she only recently was reported as sold only a month ago. Now it seems the new owner wasted little time, as the Falcon recently won this year’s Perini Navi Cup. The triple masted Falcon reached top speeds of an impressive 21 knots and managed to come out first with a corrected time of just 1 hour and 37 minutes. The third edition (the first outings took place in 2004 and 2006), the Perini Navi Cup is a fleet regatta reserved for Perini sailing ships that takes place in the breathtaking Porto Cervo in Sardinia. Awarded the Perini Navi Cup as well as a Rolex wristwatch by the president of the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, His Highness the Aga Khan and Fabio Perini. – From James List
