Legends Ladera Salon is making donations to help clean up the oil spill on the Gulf Coast. But it’s not money donating to help the cleanup efforts. They’re donating human hair. “All the hair that we’re cutting, we’re just putting it into plastic bags,” Legends owner Stacie Hess said. “We collect it all week long, then we mail it to different areas.” Hess and her team at Legends is working in conjunction with the ecological charity Matter of Trust to collect hair, fur, fleece, feathers and nylons to create hair-stuffed booms to help contain the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Hair almost attracts oil, she said, similar to the way that human hair gets oily without a wash. – From Orange County Register

Hair Restoration is a surgical technique that involves moving skin containing hair follicles from one part of the body (the donor site) to bald or balding parts (the recipient site). It is primarily used to treat male pattern baldness, whereby grafts containing hair follicles that are genetically resistant to balding are transplanted to bald scalp.
