We have to admit that we really like the classic design of Frausher boats. Now they make one that’s hybrid, it’s hard not to love it.
Classic Austrian motorboat builder Frauscher Bootswerft has joined forces with compatriot Steyr Motors to produce what the two companies claim is the first serialized hybrid propulsion system for pleasure boats. This is not some newfangled electrotoy, but rather a whole new powertrain that can be fitted into four Frauscher models measuring from 6 to 9 metres in place of the usual 250 hp gas-powered engines. The zero-emission electric-drive mode allows for a speed of five knots using only electric propulsion and switches to the combustion engine by turning the ignition key. – From James List
