Dream homes encompassing everything its inhabitants need in a perfectly sized floor-plan are challenging to design, but the results are worth it. Besides coming up with innovative design solutions for each customized residence, architects create feelings of belonging, relaxation and coziness by using shapes, textures and colors. The family inhabiting today’s dream home – the Quartz Mountain Residence- was looking to downsize to a private, quiet and relaxing lifestyle that they found within the 4,700 square feet home imagined by Kendle Design Collaborative.
Located in Paradise Valley, Arizona, this sophisticated residence displays natural materials interpreted in modern ways. Wood, stone, rammed earth and glass connect the landscape to the built environment, extracting glimpses through large sliding door, framed and unframed windows, as well as skylights. Based on a foundation of rammed earth, the modern house rises in the desert to capture the best visual frames of the surroundings. Overhangs help protect the interior from excessive sunlight, allowing the perfect amount of natural light to flood the social and private spaces. Interiors adorned with wood cabinets, stone countertops, Douglass Fir wood ceilings and limestone floors exude a sense of sophisticated elegance that complete the relaxing atmosphere.
