Spreading over 6,000 square feet, the amazing New Canaan Residence was imagined by American architectural studio Specht Harpman as a minimalist dream home encompassing everything needed for a comfortable lifestyle. Surrounded by woods, the home had a previous life. It used to be a house built in the 50s and renovated in the 60s and 70s, but this last renovation made everything come together.
Inside, spaces were imagined to offer privacy as well as a large amount of natural light. The ground floor is carved into the ground, allowing easy access to the surrounding forest. Informal social spaces stretch over this level, accompanied by a media room, library, and two home offices. Upstairs, social spaces, bedrooms and a gym make up the floor plan. The interiors of the New Canaan Residence stay in permanent contact with the surroundings via glass walls, outdoor rooms and a spacious courtyard. A perfectly manicured garden and lawn keep everything in balance, matching the volumetric architecture displayed by the modern residence.
