Today’s dream home is located on the edge of the ancient crater around the Orakei Basin in New Zealand. Known as the Lucerne Road House, this impressively elegant residence part of architect Daniel Marshall‘s portfolio gathers views of the harbor and surrounding cityscape while offering inhabitants a modern solution to the problem of garaging all their beloved cars. The architect used an Italian-inspired “pergatoria” to shape the ground floor of the house – wrapping the garage around this central courtyard.
This interior courtyard becomes the source of natural light for the surrounding interior spaces. Inside, the floor plan divided between private and public spaces. The living room/kitchen space is a double-height natural light well, while the upstairs offer exceptional views of the water below from behind glass walls. This coastal living style proves to be a smart and elegant solution to these specific clients – what is your specific “problem” you would have to address in your dream home?
