NEW YORK (AP) — Central Park’s famous Tavern on the Green restaurant will soon be run by the restaurateur who operates the Central Park Boathouse.
The city parks department said Dean Poll submitted the best bid in response to the city’s request for proposals. The restaurant’s operating license expires Dec. 31.
Poll’s proposal includes a $25 million capital investment, with a renovation that incorporates green technology.
The restaurant will also expand its dining options to include banquet rooms, a club room offering small plates and an outdoor cafe serving sandwiches and snacks.
The original building dates to the 19th century. It initially housed sheep.
