Art in the Hamptons: 2025

The Hamptons, long celebrated for its pristine beaches and luxurious estates, is also a thriving hub for art. Beyond the glamorous summer scene, the region boasts galleries and cultural institutions that attract  artists and enthusiasts alike. From historic landmarks like The Church to contemporary showcases at Dia Bridgehampton, the Hamptons offers a dynamic art scene worth exploring- here are a few of our favorites:

The Church: A Reimagined Sanctuary for Art

Originally a 19th-century Methodist church, The Church in Sag Harbor has been transformed into a breathtaking exhibition space. This cultural center merges historic architecture with contemporary art, hosting rotating exhibitions, artist residencies, and community events. Its serene ambiance and striking stained-glass windows create a unique backdrop for modern works, making it a must-visit for those seeking inspiration. Currently home to a summer exhibition called The Ark, curated by Eric Fischl, the exhibition features sculptures from 40 international artists around the world, and examines the relations between man, animals, self and nature.

Guild Hall: East Hampton’s Creative Epicenter

Founded in 1931, Guild Hall is one of the country’s first multidisciplinary arts centers, blending visual arts, theater, and education. Its Museum has featured works by legendary East End artists like Jackson Pollock, Lee Krasner, and Willem de Kooning, and holds a permanent collection of 2,400 works of art, while the Hilarie and Mitchell Morgan Theater hosts performances and lectures. With year-round programming, Guild Hall remains a cornerstone of Hamptons culture, bridging past and present artistic movements and inspiring creativity and conversation.

Dia Bridgehampton: Minimalism in a Serene Setting

Part of the renowned Dia Art Foundation, Dia Bridgehampton is a minimalist’s dream. Housed in a former converted firehouse and designed by Dan Flavin, this space focuses on local installations downstairs ( currently home to Amy Sillman: Alternate Side Permutations #1-32) and and a permanent gallery installation upstairs for nine sculptures in florence light (1963-81) by Dan Flavin. Unlike traditional galleries, Dia emphasizes immersive, site-specific experiences, allowing visitors to engage deeply with each piece.

Parrish Art Museum: Celebrating the East End’s Artistic Legacy

Nestled in Water Mill, the Parrish Art Museum is a modernist masterpiece designed by Herzog & de Meuron. Its expansive galleries showcase works from the 19th century to today, with a strong emphasis on artists connected to the East End, including Fairfield Porter, Chuck Close, and April Gornik. The museum’s luminous, barn-inspired architecture and sprawling meadows create an idyllic setting for art appreciation. Seasonal exhibitions and outdoor installations make it a cultural highlight year-round. This year, The Parrish Art Museum and Hedley Studios are teaming up to bring limited-edition pieces that are both fully functional and rare collectable cars to the Museum’s grounds as part of the Museum’s summer offering. Parrish Museum visitors will have the rare opportunity to The Bugatti Baby II, The Aston Martin DB5 J and The Ferrari Testa Rossa J through August 23.

The Hamptons as an Art Destination

While the Hamptons is synonymous with luxury, its thriving art scene adds depth to its summertime allure. Whether you’re exploring The Church’s The Ark, delving into history and culture at Guild Hall, experiencing minimalism at Dia Bridgehampton, or admiring regional works at the Parrish Art Museum, the region offers a rich tapestry of artistic experiences.
