Your Guide to the Best Summer Date Nights in NYC

For the discerning couples looking to elevate their summer date nights, we’ve scouted the most intriguing things to do this summer in NYC.

Take the Plunge: Bathhouse Atlantic Avenue

The most restorative—and seductive—way to cool off this summer is with a dose of contrast therapy. Bathhouse, the NYC-based social wellness destination known for its modern approach to thermal therapy and recovery, officially opens its newest location on May 16 at Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn.

Located at 540 Atlantic Avenue, this new outpost marks a major expansion for the brand and its largest location to date, spanning an impressive 32,000 square feet across indoor and outdoor space. Building on the immersive approach established at its Williamsburg and Flatiron locations, the Atlantic Avenue space is an environment centered entirely around contrast therapy, restoration, and ritual. Navigate the thermal journey together with four pools, including a stunning outdoor pool, multiple saunas, steam experiences, and thermal rooms designed for recovery. The crown jewel? A large-format sauna built specifically for immersive Aufguss programming. After your sweat session, retreat to the outdoor backyard space intended for gathering and restoration.

An Intimate Supper: Cynthia in the West Village

Culinary romantics need to secure a seat at the city’s most elusive new table. Newly opened Cynthia, at 32 Jones Street in the West Village, is a super intimate space with just 28 seats, offering a seasonal, sustainable tasting menu. The kitchen is helmed by Chef Sherry Cardoso, who is currently competing on Season 23 of Bravo’s Top Chef. She is a fast-rising star, and this is her passion project in partnership with restaurateur Claire DuBois (whose aunt inspired the restaurant’s name).

Sushi Akira

The Omakase Power Move: Sushi Akira

Hidden gem Sushi Akira, in the Upper East Side, helmed by Chef Nikki Zheng, is the first female-led omakase in New York to be recommended by the Michelin Guide. This intimate 12-seat omakase has recently updated nearly half its menu and focuses on seasonal, spring-forward offerings. The current standouts include: Sea Bream with Cucumber Jelly, Aori Ika (Bigfin reef squid with yuzu zest, juice, and sea salt), and  Iwashi Isobemaki (Vinegar-marinated sardine wrapped with baby scallion, pickled local vegetables, and caviar). It is refined, quiet, and undeniably impressive—perfect for those nights when you want an intimate and memorable dining experience.

Nightcaps with a Twist: Cocktail Omakase

Looking for a spin on a traditional dinner date night? Head to Cocktail Omakase, a high-end cocktail tasting bar in the Lower East Side from the Cocktail Kingdom Hospitality Group, created in partnership with Tokyo’s acclaimed Bar Libre. Rather than ordering from a list, you sit at the bar and let the mixologist guide you through a tasting journey tailored to your palate and the season.
