Caught in between two defining natural elements – the forest in the back and the Baltic Sea in the front, this stunning Summer House designed by progressive architectural practice Tham & Videgård Arkitekter creates a comforting environment for relaxing in style. Showcasing a zig-zagging roof design where concrete and framed glass meets a warm atmosphere, the holiday home is located in the Swedish city of Lagnö. In order to reconnect the owners with their surroundings, architects imagine a bright and open floor plan used for everyday living that overlooks beautiful sunsets.
Under the different sized concrete gabled roofs, interiors stretch as if part of the surroundings landscape. Presenting just the utterly necessary furniture items, the summer home opens up to allow the breeze to gently ventilate the interiors. Protected by sliding doors, the bright living spaces offer a taunting alternative to city breaks or crowded urban spaces. Under a glass gabled roof, the terrace connects the back of the house with the front, creating a bridge in the design. Although the concrete should have made the house look cold, architects paid attention to the overall design, resulting in the creation of a warm, inviting summer residence.
