Reports from Mashable and TechCrunch are indicating that the iPhone will be getting a new carrier by early next year.
The Verizon iPhone has been rumored from the moment the first iPhone hit the streets, but now evidence is mounting that it will be a reality.
TechCrunch is saying that orders for CDMA chipsets from Qualcomm – the type of chipset used by Verizon – have been placed by Apple and are due in December, implying a January launch for the Verizon device.
The inclusion of Verizon as a carrier option would come as a relief for iPhone users who have complained of AT&T’s lack of coverage at times and overloaded network.
