Selfridges also believes that a woman can never have enough of handbags and hence has decided to unveil the world’s largest handbag hall. The new handbag paradise is going to be a part of the $374 million refurbishment of the flagship store of one of the largest luxury department store on Oxford Street. Swelling to three times more the current space, the luxury handbag area will be home to over 7,000 different accessories, like sunglasses, scarves, tech trinkets and of course handbags. Spanning 61,000 square feet, more than a third of the store’s total ground-level space, the world’s largest handbag hall will woo bag lovers with many brands including the likes of Hermès, Chanel, Valentino, Charlotte Olympia, Sophie Hulme and Chrome Hearts. Catering to all kinds of taste and sizes of wallet, the handbag heaven is gearing up to lure deep-pocket shoppers with bags worth $25,000 too.
Located in London store’s new eastern wing and designed by David Chipperfield Architects, it will feature a soaring, triple-height entrance, white marble-floor, a vast vaulted single space with neo-Classical columns and the Fount, a 14-seat circular cocktail bar at its center. This home to the world’s most desirable designer bags, jewelry, tech trinkets and personalized pieces emphasizes that the luxurious brick-and-mortar retail experience is here to stay. The new space will take over the largest-handbag-hall title from the 53,820 square feet handbag department at Galeries Lafayette in Paris.
Till then, add a luxurious new Saint Laurent classic Nano tote, in genuine alligator leather, to your handbag closet for $11,025.
