Alberto Frias was born in Monterrey, Mexico in 1970. He received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Houston in 1996 and was awarded the Graduation Honor Award for Design for his work on designing a place of meditation. Further inspired by the sublime experience of spiritual places, he created his master’s thesis project “Transport” Perceptual Pod from his explorations on light, sound and space” and received a Masters of Architecture degree from the University of New Mexico in 2003.
The “Om” meditation pod is a personal light, sound and space environment. Inspired by the om mantra, the sound of the energy of the universe of which all things are manifestations. The Om facilities meditation by allowing a person to relax inside an aura of colored light and ambient sound. The form of the Om is a shiny white oval sphere with a comforting cocoon interior. As you sit facing back, you experience the white domed space that transforms into a personal sky for a fusion of colored light and resonating sound.
