Talisker Storm has landed stateside. Talisker, a single malt whisky made by the sea on the Isle of Skye, says their new expression, Talisker Storm, is an ‘intense and smoky whisky, with enhanced maritime notes that smoothly balance Talisker’s signature warm sweetness’.
Like many new Scotch whiskies being introduced, Talisker Storm does not have an age statement. Talisker says that the single malt is crafted from ‘rejuvenated and refill casks at different ages to enhance the vibrant, smoky and intense distillery character’.
“Talisker is the only distillery on the Isle of Skye. We were inspired to craft an expression as unique as the dramatic terrain of the island from where it hails,” said Diageo Master Blender Jim Beveridge. “Without the constraints of an age statement, we’ve been able to blend a range of exceptional whiskies together in one vibrant dram.”
Each whisky in Talisker Storm has been matured in oak casks for a minimum of three years and, once matured, is blended together to deliver the final product. By removing the age restrictions for Talisker Storm, the Master Blender has full access to the distillery’s whiskies, providing greater flexibility to introduce a range of flavors to the final product based on the maturity, rather than age.
Talisker states their new whisky is best enjoyed neat or with a few drops of distilled water to unlock the balance of sweetness, smoke and salt.
Talisker Storm arrives in the U.S. this month with a retail price of $66.
