Coffee giant Starbucks launched the free Starbucks Digital Network on Wednesday. The service will be available in the retailer’s 6,800 U.S. stores, and includes premium news, entertainment and health content that is viewable only in the stores via a phone, computer and tablet, such as an iPad. Users do not have to register.
Yahoo built the platform for Starbucks and is powering the service.
Starbucks said that their content partners will be providing something special, such as free access to premium content or exclusive previews. Providers include Apple, New York Times, Wall Street Journal and USA Today, Men’s Health, Women’s Health, Runner’s World, Bicycling and Prevention. Other partners include LinkedIn, Nick Jr. and SnagFilms.
