Men’s fashion company Ministry of Supply believes in making “smart” clothing. Their goal is to create everyday menswear that is simplistically attractive but, above all, functional. They’ve made a suit you can run a marathon in, a sweater that absorbs odors using carbonized coffee. Everything they produce looks like the sort of simple, well-tailored outfit you might find on any businessman, but there is a lot of complexity underlying all that simplicity.
The minds behind Ministry of Supply are keen observers of the human form. They’ve succeeded in designing clothing that works with the body, rather than covering it up or constraining it. Take their Seamless Jacket, for example. “We believe that one’s clothing should feel almost indistinguishable from their body, allowing for unprecedented maneuverability,” states the product description. “Thanks to digitized modeling and seamless construction, we’re able to program that degree of movement into the jacket, with details like joint articulation that actually mirror the 3-dimensional body in motion.” This particular item was so popular that the brand has already sold out of it. But no worries, you can get on a waiting list if you’re still eager to have one of these seamless jackets.
The company also offers a range of technologically advanced dress shirts, including the “Apollo” which possesses “an ultra-stretchy knit integrated with NASA temperature-regulating technology.” Most of the brand’s clothes are specifically designed to be breathable and temperature-regulated. This is the future of businesswear, and it’s light and breezy.
