Looking around your home to see what is missing? How about a sculptural sideboard to create a relaxed atmosphere that combines clean minimalist design with natural-inspired details? The Stack Buffet by Mexican designer Hector Esrawe showcases how simplicity still has the power to amaze us.
Resting on two criss-crossing pieces of wood, the contemporary sideboard convokes ideas about simplicity and function in design. Reminiscent of how raw materials are stored in piles before becoming the carefully studied furniture pieces we display in our homes, the black-lacquered contemporary sideboard hides two drawers in its apparently disorganized “pile”. Built from walnut or ash, the sideboard was meant to be displayed as a sculptural work of art, one that goes beyond form and function and appeals to our thoughts and perspectives.
