Dream Yacht Worldwide, a leading sea vacation company, and Fountaine Pajot, global designer and builder of luxury catamarans, recently partnered to launch a new collection of electric catamarans and yachts. Now, eco-friendlier sailing experiences are available for bookings in some of the world’s most popular destinations.
The Aura 51 Smart Electric model was the first electric model introduced to the Dream Yacht Worldwide fleet, and was available for charter in Italy as of last April.
It is equipped with electric motors and an intelligent on-board energy management system. Strong and highly efficient electric engines provide power, with two lithium technology battery banks for storage – providing for hours of motor cruising, or as much as a week at anchor without any emissions.
The Aura 51 has been so popular that a new electric offering, the Fountaine Pat Elba 45, is now being offered for sailings out of some European cities as well.
Almost two dozen electric yachts will be added to the fleet by next Spring for water travel vacations from Sardinia, Naples, and Corsica, with additional boats and Mediterranean destinations like Spain, Croatia, and Greece planned for later this year.
“By partnering and supporting the research and development of electric yachts, we can continue to make sailing accessible to people around the world but with a lower impact on our seas and environment,” Loïc Bonnet, CEO and founder of Dream Yacht Group, shared with Pursuitist.
“Being environmentally conscious is central to our mission to protect our planet and oceans, and we are confident that our charter clients will support this endeavor.”
“Silent” sailing not only is greener — and obviously saves on fuel costs — but may also allow for a more relaxing vacation that leaves no trace behind.
