Akiyoshi Takagi Architects, Nakae Architects and Ohno Japan collaborated in the design of an impressive building especially developed for motorcyclists in Tokyo, Japan.
The building pays tribute to a minimalist style, characterizing both Japanese architecture in general, and the “Spartan” lives of the adrenaline-enthusiasts living inside. Concrete is the material that defines the project, contributing to an overall sober atmosphere. The three-level building is centered around an oval courtyard, large enough for the inhabitants to test their motorcycling skills and do a few turns before stepping out of their comfort zone. This outdoor space also acts like a socializing area for those trying to exchange ideas and advice regarding their motor bicycles. Each of the eight apartments has its own garage, located on the bottom level. The layout and simple design of the apartments makes them perfect for bachelors in search of a quiet, sports-dedicated retreat.
