Samsung is looking to steal a little of Apple’s thunder by debuting the Galaxy Gear, a smartphone-like wristwatch, on September 4, a week ahead of a scheduled Apple event, according to Bloomberg. Samsung’s Galaxy Gear is looking to get some early traction in the field of wearable technology, which analysts feel is an untapped market.
Apple is expected to release an iWatch later this year or in early 2014, but the device could be unveiled at their September 10 conference.
The Galaxy Gear will get its debut the same day as the Galaxy Note 3, Samsung’s latest phablet. The Galaxy Gear would be able to handle the common tasks of a smartphone, including making phone calls, surfing the Web, texting and e-mail.
