The first curved smartphone has been finally introduced by Samsung. In a world where flat phones dominate the market, Samsung identified the need to make us feel more comfortable when texting or talking. The new product, named Galaxy Round, features a concave screen and a curved exterior, to fit naturally in the palm of your hands, offering a truly new experience and “a comfortable hand-grip feeling”. Anyway, the display is curved, but it doesn’t bend. Samsung adds also two more features: the roll effect and the gravity effect. The roll effect “enables the user to check information such as the date, time, missed calls and battery easily when home screen is off, and the Gravity Effect for creating visual interaction with the screen by tilting the device.”
Galaxy Round sports a 5.7-inch full HD Super AMOLED (curved) screen, 3GB of RAM, a quad core MSM chip, built-in storage of 32 GB and a 13 MP camera. As expected, it runs on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean).
For those of you interested in acquiring the latest Samsung gadget, we inform you that the product is available only in South Korea for the moment. The price announced for the device is a little bit high, but I’m sure people will actually pay more than $1000 (1.09 million won – South Korea) for the new Galaxy Round, just to “test” the new technology.
