After showing her daring, low-back crop-top Stella McCartney gown at the Met Gala, Rihanna was pretty in pink at the Dior Resort 2015 show as the usually edgy & fearlessly stylish star went for a more ladylike look.
The 26-year-old singer arrived at the event in the Brooklyn Navy Yard wearing a pink satin Dior dress from Christian Dior’s Autumn/Winter 14 collection. Her jewelry was nothing but pearls and gold – very feminine baubles in comparison to her rock n’ roll trendy pieces we’re used to seeing her in.
Speaking about the location of the show the star revealed it feels like a second home to her.
“You know what, I spent most of my summers in Brooklyn,” Rihanna told WWD. “All my life, I grew up coming to Brooklyn. My late grandma and my granddad lived in Brooklyn. He still lives here. So I do make it to Brooklyn a bit whether it’s to see the game or to see my family… But now I’m here for fashion, so this is definitely different.”
Creative director Raf Simons took inspiration from his love of flowers for the range.
“I wanted to deal with [the carré] in a different way,” he explained. “Not as a styling element around the neck. I wanted to see how can we use that as an element [of design], and see how I could deal with prints and flowers in a different way. [I also wanted] to touch on elements of Dior history but also link to what I feel when I am in New York.”
After the event, Rihanna was spotted leaving Da Silvano restaurant, her favourite place to eat in the big city. She covered up in a voluminous, metallic coat from Christian Dior’s Pre-Fall 2014 collection.
