Whatever your political leanings, you can’t deny that the current Canadian Prime Minister is one stylish man. Trudeau’s youthful good looks and what GQ calls his “Obama-like levels of chill” has inspired even non-Canadians to take note of current Canadian politics. In an age when most world leaders are not even sartorially conversant enough to wear well-fitting suits, Trudeau is a sight for sore eyes.
Though his wardrobe is close to being as subdued and unexciting as any politician’s (charcoal suits and solid colored ties prevail), the Prime Minister does have a little stylistic flair that comes out now and then, especially as regards his socks. He notably wore somewhat goofy yet strangely endearing maple leaf socks to his first ministers meeting in November of 2015. Perhaps to offset his informal socks, Trudeau often wears an IWC Regulateur watch which retails for more than $12000. According to GQ, this means the Canuck has “more style in one arm than the U.S. Senate has in its entire legislative body.”
Trudeau also earns cool points for sporting a tattoo of a Haida raven on his left arm; the ink has personal significance, as Trudeau’s father, former Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, was welcomed as an honorary member of the Haida people in 1977.
Trudeau is in good company when it comes to GQ’s article on the 13 Most Stylish Men in the World Right Now; he’s listed alongside Tom Hardy, Idris Elba, and Drake.
