Mastercard is paving the way with a first-of-its-kind restaurant-in-residence program in New York City.
PRICELESS—An International Culinary Collective is a collaboration between fashion-centric Spring Studios and unique dining destinations from around the world, bring mixologists and world-renowned chefs to New York City.
The first three culinary destinations to take up residency at PRICELESS through the beginning of next year are The Rock from Zanzibar, Tanzania; Teruzushi from Kitakyushu, Japan; and Lyaness from London, United Kingdom (from Ryan “Mr. Lyan” Chetiyawardana and the team behind Dandelyan, voted World’s Best Bar in 2018).
The PRICELESS rooftop at Spring Place is also home to a global market, with international dishes curated by James Beard Award winning Chef JJ Johnson. All of the restaurants are a complete replica of the original spaces. Every detail, down to toothpick holders have been duplicated for the NYC outpost.
In the case of Teruzushi, they closed the restaurant in Japan and packed up everything and shipped it here to New York. The entire Teruzushi has relocated to New York for the remainder of the year.
Lyaness has been in the international news, as the winner of 2018 “World’s Best Bar” , and the sleek, sophisticated interior is the perfect place to meet for a cocktail or snack on light bites such as wagyu beef hot dog and oysters at the green onyx curved bar or comfortably seated on plush light blue captain’s chairs strategically placed around the space.
The Rock adds a bit of whimsical fantasy, as you sit on the patio and admire the 360 degree views of the Indian Ocean. The original restaurant off the coast in Zanzibar is only accessible by foot during low tide, and by boat during high tide.
The friendly African hospitality is enhanced by the sound of the waves, as well as ocean scents of moss intertwined with beech wood. Owner 360 degree views of the Indian Ocean. Owner Nigel Firman adds to the ambiance, and his smile and accent will charm you, as will his delicate dishes of Egg Tagliatelle and well-balanced cocktails.
This is a momentous opening not only for Mastercard, but for NYC as a whole, introducing once-in-a-lifetime transportive and immersive “travel” experiences right.
