In a world that is constantly being polluted, plants may not always hold the answers, but they sure help our mood. Plantable is a cool design by London-based JAILmake Studio and is an original furniture piece, especially created to interact with nature.
Plantable is a green, handmade creation. Each leg is careful bent by hand and then fillet brazed into a steel framework. The oak top is attached afterworlds in order to complete the ingenious furniture piece. The base of the legs consisting of flower pots is highly original and visually surprising.
The concept behind the table is witty and inspiring; “Plantable aims to take a domesticated object- taken away from nature, placed within glass and walls, and enable nature to claim it back once again. – The object discusses why we distance ourselves from the food and the processes that going into making it, the stuff that we put on our plate and consume everyday“.
The producers tasted various plants for the design, such as tomatoes, grapes, herbs and sweet peas. So if you are creative enough and willing to improvise, the Plantable will not just be a cool indoor asset, but also a fun solution for growing a few vegetables and flowers.
