In 2012, PLAiR managed to raise $ 2.1 million from Roger McNamee and Mike Maples’ Floodgate Fund in order to develop a new (revolutionary) product. The company didn’t say much about it back then. CES 2013 was the right moment to present it. CES passed and people started to talk about it more and more. The entire buzz created around PLAiR made everybody very anxious. We, like everybody else I suppose, have been expecting the small gadget that streams HD videos on your TV wirelessly to be officially launched on the market. The wonder-device, named by POPSCI “the hottest gadget of 2013” can be finally purchased from the company’s website.

PLAiR states that streaming your favourite videos from the internet on your big screen TV has never been easier! Yes, we were pretty used to HDMI cables, but let’s face it, who likes cables “scattered” all over the living room?! As an alternative to cables, PLAiR released PLAiR, a USB device, that allows you to stream content without worrying that you need a certain type of app, plus a connected TV.

How exactly does PLAiR work?

In order to activate PLAiR and start to beam videos, you need to plug it into your  TV’s HDMI port. Then, you can either download the PLAiR app from Apple App Store or Google Play Store (it works wonderfully on both iOS and Android mobile devices) or you can download the Chrome plug-in. Next? Search for your favourite content and let PLAiR stream it!
