If originality is what you are looking for in the kitchen, before you come up with extravagant culinary dishes, try out an unusual kitchen island design. With an appearance that will definitely contribute to your inspiration, the Origami Kitchen Island was designed by Karim Rashid, a professional who believes in “poetic design”.
Origami Kitchen Island by Karim Rashid is elegant, daring and yes, one might even call it “poetic”. The Oriental art of folding paper was the main source of inspiration for this unusual kitchen island. Its sculptural shape determines an overall asymmetry, which could also prove to be practical. But let’s face it: this is not for the world’s most appreciated chefs, but rather for people who care much more about the aesthetics of the kitchen, than the actual resulting food.
But contrary to all beliefs, the design is functional. The product was made entirely of DuPont Corian and was manufactured by the Egyptian producer Amr Helmy. Its base can expand into a large worktop, which is divided into three zones: the cleaning area with an integrated sink, the cooking zone, and a snack area. Moreover, the island comes with a large wall cabinet with plenty of storage space.
