At Nobu Hotel Los Cabos, boundaries between art, architecture and emotion disappeared during the resort’s second annual On Exhibition event. Created together with the Chayul Collective, this week-long showcase offered guests the chance to explore culture in a setting defined by natural beauty and refined coastal design.
An Artistic Experience by the Ocean
Pursuitist attended the opening of this new exhibition, presented on a spacious open-air terrace just off the resort’s elegant lobby. Set between the desert landscape and the vast blue Pacific, A Sense of Belonging came to life through sculpture, film, music and live performance.

Throughout the week, attendees moved freely among installations, live art demonstrations and opportunities to view and purchase original works. The program asked what it means to belong, not only in a particular place, but to one’s heritage, identity and shared human experience.
Wandering through Nobu’s peaceful courtyards and modern interiors, art became both a reflection and a conversation. Guests were reminded that belonging is something felt as deeply as it is experienced.
A Vision of Culture and Hospitality
Founded by Chef Nobu Matsuhisa, Robert De Niro and Meir Teper, the luxurious Nobu Hotel Los Cabos blends Japanese minimalism with Baja coastal warmth. This approach was evident in every moment of On Exhibition, where cultural exchange and thoughtful hospitality came together under the Baja sun.
Luciano Eduardo Valdez, General Manager of Nobu Hotel Los Cabos, explained that this year’s theme was crafted to help visitors find comfort in both place and self. He said the goal was to spark inspiration and meaningful connection that stays with guests long after their stay.
“As we continue to refine our approach to hospitality, our goal is to create an environment that seamlessly blends culture and luxury,” said Luciano Eduardo Valdez, General Manager of Nobu Hotel Los Cabos. “We want every guest to enjoy meaningful experiences and leave with a deeper appreciation for artistry, culture, and connection.”
A Curated Group of Visionary Artists
This year’s On Exhibition featured an international selection of artists, each contributing a unique perspective on identity and sense of place:

-
Beatriz Cifuentes, a tapestry artist from Nicaragua now living in New York, shaped narratives of community and diaspora in richly textured pieces.
-
Nicolas Manrique, an Emmy-nominated motion designer, drew visitors into surreal 3D animations that challenged perception.
-
Jenna Krypell, a Brooklyn-based sculptor and painter, brought bold forms and vibrant emotion to life.
-
Mateo Sicilia, a filmmaker known for satire, used film to explore human behavior through unexpected humor.
-
Julia Wheatley introduced collage works filled with color and pointillist detail.
-
Markciano, a DJ and producer from Peru, blended Latin rhythms like salsa and cumbia with contemporary house music for lively nightly sets.
-
Frank Alcock, born in Venezuela and based in Brooklyn, offered an eclectic sound rooted in his cultural influences.
Together their work created an experience that was visually striking and emotionally engaging.
Architecture That Enhances the Experience
The architectural design of Nobu Hotel Los Cabos became part of the art itself. Clean lines and tranquil garden spaces created a setting that felt both contemplative and open. Natural materials such as wood, stone and local plant life connected art with the rugged desert surroundings.
Guests moved easily from outdoor displays to film screenings. At sunset, many paused with a cocktail in hand to enjoy the changing light over the Pacific.
Each evening, music filled the air, drawing visitors into the atmosphere and maintaining the exhibition’s spirit of connection.
A Destination with Depth and Design
Located on the edge of Cabo San Lucas, Nobu Hotel and Residences Los Cabos is known for its standout design and refined guest experience. The lovely 200-room property features a mix of Japanese elegance and Mexican artistry. Highlights include the renowned Nobu Restaurant and Bar, a luxury spa, curated retail and flexible event spaces.
For those seeking privacy, the residences such as the Hikari, Asahi, Sakyü and Kogane Penthouse provided spacious retreats with open kitchens, private terraces and garden or golf views.
During On Exhibition, the resort felt more alive than ever. Some visitors explored quietly, while others joined discussions, performances and creative moments throughout the week. The result was an atmosphere of both sophistication and heartfelt expression that reflects Nobu’s identity.
A New Highlight on the Cabo Cultural Scene
As Los Cabos grows as a destination that values creativity as much as comfort, On Exhibition has become an important cultural event. The partnership with Chayul Collective deepened Nobu’s commitment to meaningful experiences that engage visitors on multiple levels.
For art lovers, designers and travelers who want more than traditional resort offerings, A Sense of Belonging provided a chance to connect with a place, with others and with aspects of themselves.
