One of the world’s most exclusive jewelers, gemologists and legendary gem collectors is celebrated in a new lavish book out through Assouline. Alexandre Reza has spent his life gathering some of the world’s most beautiful jewels. At his Paris atelier, Reza has turned out singular designs that let the natural beauty of the gemstones shine.
The book of the same name is part of Assouline’s Ultimate collection and is filled with original photography by Laziz Hamani and text by Vivienne Becker. Becker, a jewelry historian, worked with former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright on her jewelry book, Read My Pins: Stories from a Diplomat’s Jewel Box (2009).
The diamonds, sapphires, emeralds, and rubies of Reza’s collections bridge history. The stones are old as time, the designs themselves are instant classics, some of which have been auctioned off at top auction houses such as Sotheby’s and Christie’s. The book features more than one hundred rare pieces of Reza’s creations with a history of the famed gem house in archival documents and vintage photography. The luxury book is hand-bound and presented in a suede clamshell display case. The book sells for $750.
