Welcome to a modern residence that stands out due to an original architecture. Lujan House was designed by architect Robert M. Gurney and is an imposing 2400 square-foot home located in Ocean View, Delaware, USA.
Lujan House consists of two volumes with different exterior finishes, which intersect, creating an interesting geometry. At the same time, the junction forms an interior passageway for the inhabitants. All the rooms of the residence face a beautiful central garden, with plenty of space for various outdoor activities.
The eastern volume features sixteen foot high ceilings and accommodates the public living spaces. Generous clerestory windows ensure a large amount of natural light. The architect further describes this volume as follows: “A twenty foot wide glass wall slides into a pocket, enhancing the relationship to the outdoors, and provides a sense of living in a garden. The two story western volume is comprised of bedrooms and a small second floor living space. A one story glass link connects the volumes and visually opens to the central garden”. Modern furniture and minimalist arrangements adorn this particular part of the house. A large contemporary fireplace descending from the ceiling, makes the living room cozy and perfect for socializing.
