The collaboration between Paris-based luxury fashion brand Louis Vuitton and Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama resulted in a world of polka dots, recently extending this influence to the concept store at Selfridges. The obsession guiding Kusama’s works inspired Louis Vuitton to use this repetitive design to construct the interiors and display windows of the fascinating concept store in London.
Mirroring the collection, the store provides visitors with a fairytale-like space. Large perforated lamps float over the display volumes, captured in a polka dot dance that resembles optical illusions. Designed to display a simple combination of white and red, the concept store showcases the repetitive polka dot pattern in an inspiring way. Various sizes of perforations captured in the display compose an ethereal space, guiding visitors towards a life-sized model of Kusama herself, completely covered in polka dots. If you want to visit this astounding concept store, you might want to know it will stay open until the 1st of October 2012.
