Stargazers prepare – over the next couple of weeks, Jupiter will be making its closest approach to Earth for the next 12 years.
Expers say that in North America Jupiter will be low in the east shortly after twilight, moving higher up toward the southeast as the evening grows late. This will be the closest the planet has come to Earth since 1963. It won’t be this close again until 2022. September 20 will mark the date where Jupiter will be closest to the Earth, but the solar system’s largest planet will be vibrant for the rest of the month.
