The Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor performance as a transgender woman in Dallas Buyers Club was apparently not enough for Jared Leto. The American actor, who is also a singer, songwriter and director has just awarded himself an extraordinary property worth $5 million in Los Angeles, California. Located in Hollywood Hills West, the 1.5-acre gated property was once part of the Lookout Mountain Air Force Station. The former defence site which today is a private residence in the Laurel Canyon neighborhood was originally built in the early 1940s.
Spreading over 50,000 square feet, the private, multi-level residence has eight bedrooms, 12 bathrooms, galleries, a theater, a soundstage, pool and waterfall too.
A large motor court, sculptural spiral staircase, concrete-floored art galleries, a tiled courtyard, a lagoon-style swimming pool are just a few of other notable features seen in the images of Leto’s new den.
The expansive interior also features tile, paver and concrete floors, sloped ceilings, arched windows and ceiling beams.
LA Times report that Brett Lawyer of Hilton & Hyland/Christie’s International Real Estate was the listing agent and the transaction was completed off-market. Also records state that the one-time defense site was last traded in 1994, when it was sold for $750,000 to artist Mark Lipscomb and attorney and former judge John Ladner.
