Those who pursue their visions will probably become part of history. Even if this road is strenuous and requires a different method of displaying creativity, it is sure worth it. Seeing textile design and furniture manufacturing merging to re-imagine a contemporary piece of furniture, I was stunned by the natural appeal of this experimental furniture piece created by Hungarian textile designer Kata Monus.
Two wooden boxes of different sizes were lifted on simple, rounded wooden legs and connected through a flexible textile “corridor”. Puncturing through the wooden storage boxes, braids become part of the structure, linking these two objects in a customizable “dance”. Decorative, not only functional, the storage unit integrates the knitted structure in its display, constructing a focal point in any room. Easy to orient towards any direction, each of these semi-independent storage volumes showcase a different shape. I found three perfect spots in my house for it – where would you place it?
