Akin to Karl Lagerfeld, pushing the limit of multi-tasking is the new-age mantra of the multi-talented achievers. Giorgio Armani takes the lead for his newest Made to Measure line. The designer not only models for this campaign but he has also played the role of a lensman for the first time.
Posing in a single-breasted, one-button jacket and a tie, the 79 year old suave designer makes an impressive statement in this black and white self-portrait. Breaking the norm of hiring young, lean models, the sartorial messiah has established that age is no bar for the talented and confident go-getters in this arena. Though the Made to Measure project was launched way back in 2006, the latest campaign featuring the founder himself will debut worldwide on Sept. 11.
The Italian designer spoke about his bespoke line and justified his decision to model the same, “Sartorial attention is part of the DNA of my brand, and the Made to Measure line represents its highest expression. I like the idea of being its testimonial, wearing a jacket and a tie and presenting myself with a different image from the one people normally associate me with. My message is that sartorial today is no longer only connected to formalwear. A Made to Measure suit works well also for the most dynamic lifestyle because it is created with individual changes that make it comfortable and practical, depending on each customer’s special requests.”
Also a Made to Measure website will allow clients to secure appointments and consultations for bespoke tailoring.
