TechCrunch recently sat down with Gilt GEO Susan Lyne in New York — and spoke about their plans to go local with a Groupon like strategy with the beta launch of Gilt City.

Additionally, here’s news on Gilt Home:

Today Gilt Groupe announced that it is expanding its offerings for Gilt Home. Now the site will provide its members with an average of 15 sales per week from more than 200 brands. Product categories now will include indoor and outdoor furniture, rugs, lighting, decorative accessories, tabletop, bedding, gourmet food, custom curated art events, housewares and electronics. In addition to this wide array of product offering, Gilt Home will now also feature unique editorial copy as well as original interviews with home and product designers regularly appearing on the Gilt blog.

“Our member is a sophisticated individual who looks for luxury in every aspect of his or her life, including their home,” says Stefan Pepe, general manager of Gilt Home. “What we are doing now is offering that member a curated selection of products in a wide variety of categories for the home each day. Our goal is to give our members stylish products that can be used to furnish every room.”

“I believe great style is universal: from your clothes to your curtains, personal style is expressed through all outlets, so it only makes sense that Gilt would further its presence in the Home category,” says designer Jonathan Adler. “You’ve already got the latest bags and best shoes from Gilt, now it’s time to make your house the ultimate accessory with Gilt Home.”

Brands being featured on Gilt Home category expansion include Andrew Martin, angela adams, Cuisinart, DayNa Decker, John Robshaw, Kim Seybert, Kyocera, Ligne Roset, Menu, Missoni Home, Loll, Rock & Republic pets and Voluspa candles. “Gilt has established itself as a pioneer and an innovator in the e-commerce industry,” says interior designer Malcolm James Kutner. “It really sets a new standard for style and value. Gilt’s expansion into the Home arena is only further proof that they’re the pinnacle of online luxury.”

All Gilt Home sales will begin at noon ET and will last for approximately 48-72 hours; items will be available at up to 70% off retail. To become a member of Gilt Home visit www.gilt.com/gilthome
