You know times are tough when BMW’s brand new superbike is priced almost the same as its nearest rival, which hails from the Land of the Rising Sun. Just-announced US pricing on the 190 hp hellcat peg it at $13,800, just £858 more than Yamaha’s class-leading R1. BMW launched the machine in May at Italy’s famed Monza racetrack during the Superbike World Championship race weekend. The S 1000 RR, weighing only 404 lbs, is billed as one of the most potent, sophisticated and lightest sport bikes ever produced. – From James List
