Prince William is hunting for a £5million mansion in California’s exclusive enclave of Malibu, a US property expert revealed yesterday. And last night the royal grapevine was buzzing with rumours that the future king is on the lookout for a luxury hideaway where he can share a honeymoon with his girlfriend Kate Middleton. The Prince’s property hunt in Malibu comes at a time when wealthy buyers are looking for long-term investment bargains in recession-hit California, hoping for huge returns as the market recovers in three, five or even 10 years. According to US expert and TV commentator Ruth Ryon, he is planning to invest a quarter of the £20million left him by his mother Princess Diana. Some sources point out that Malibu could provide a perfect base for Kate who is believed to be mulling over the prospect of working in America for 12 months. She has a longstanding offer from Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour to take a sabbatical in New York while serving an internship on the magazine, which also has a thriving West Coast bureau. – from Daily Express
